When evaluating whether pursuing investors is the right path for your film project, consider the following:

Kosmos Post offerings are limited to "post-production as equity financing."
In Equity Financing, investors provide capital in exchange for ownership in the film and a share of the film's profits. Equity financing is not a loan. It involves selling a portion of your film to investors in exchange for capital, whereas a loan involves borrowing money that must be repaid with interest.
The payment structure for profitable films is the Waterfall, where investors first receive their initial investment back, plus a premium (e.g., 25%), before the remaining profit is split (e.g., 50/50) between the production pool and the investor pool.
In Kosmos Post's post-production as equity financing, services are contracted at an agreed-upon financial amount to be paid to the post-production company as part of the investor pool (this agreed-upon amount is the investment). A financial note outlining the agreement is provided to the producer. The producer can then bring the note to an entertainment bank in exchange for cash up front, freeing up liquid assets to make their film.
Note: Kosmos Post does not engage in Debt Financing. In Debt Financing, investors lend money to be repaid with interest, regardless of the film's success.
Because of the risk involved for equity investors, Kosmos Post accepts only a select few opportunities a year for investment. We reserve the right to decline any investment opportunity for any reason without a written or otherwise provided explanation.
What we look for:
1) A clear business plan, including a detailed marketing and distribution plan, and strong project viability.
2) Financial stability in the form of a realistic budget and at least one other equity investor attached (excluding family and friends). This often involves a bondable schedule supported by comprehensive supporting documents (the final script, budget, call sheets, and advanced shot lists).
3) The filmmaker's industry experience and prior works.
4) Alignment with Kosmos Post's creative vision, purpose, and values. To offset the risk of investing in films, we exclusively invest in projects where our active involvement in post-production significantly contributes to the project's overall viability.
